Functional Membrane with Excellent Heat Convection and Breathability

UniTran®- GM-S/GM-P graphene waterproof and breathable membrane is a PU based membrane using graphene as core materials. The type of PU for GM-S series is hydrophilic PU, and the one for GM-P series is hydrophobic type PU. UniTran® GM-S/GM-P series not only provide the functions of highly water resistant and moisture permeability, but it also provides a high heat convection and anti-static ability. With these extreme function, UniTran® GM-S/GM-P series products are able to apply into the functional apparel, home & furniture textile or medical textile.


UniTran@ GM-S series graphene hydrophilic membrane products are the waterproof and breathable membrane with heat dissipation using graphene materials as core material and a hydrophilic polyurethane polymer as matrix material. It provides two different products of GM-S100 and GM-S200 with different waterproofness, breathability and thermal conductivity for the requirements of different wearing conditions. For the performance of waterproofness and breathability, the breathability of GM-S100 could be achieved over 80000 g/m²-24hrs (JIS L1099 B-1) and over 100000mmH₂O (JIS L1092B-2009) for waterproofness could be measured at GM-S100 product, it makes them to meet the most of wearing conditions. In the other hand, the breathability and waterproofness of GM-S200 would be achieved to over 120000 g/m²-24hrs (JIS L1099 B-1) and 150000mmH₂O (JIS L1092B-2009) for fulfill the requirements of extreme wearing conditions. For the performance of heat dissipation, both GM-S100 and GM-S200 have a superior thermal conductivity and over 5 W/mK (ISO-22007) of thermal conductivity in horizontal direction could be attained. This good heat dissipation behavior could enhance over 20% heat conduction of the graphene functional membrane laminated fabric.

To meet the requirements of air permeability, UC launch a new high air permeable graphene microporous membrane using graphene materials as core material and a hydrophobic polyurethane polymer as matrix material. The high air permeability of graphene microporous membrane comes from the formation of the vertical pores inside the membrane, which are produced by the wet forming process. For the performance of waterproofness and breathability, the breathability of GM-P100 could be achieved over 30000 g/m²-24hrs (JIS L1099 A-1) and over 100000mmH₂O (JIS L1092B-2009) for waterproofness could be measured at GM-P100 product. In the other hand, for the performance of air permeability, GM-P100 could provide the performance for over 0.1 cfm, and it exceed the breathability performance of available commercially products- GORE-TEX@. In addition, the graphene added graphene microporous membrane would not only have the excellent thermal conductivity also have a good anti-abrasion resulted by the super lubricity of graphene materials.
